Arsene Wenger sends Pep Guardiola a message after beating Brighton

Arsenal 2 – Brighton 0

Arsenal continued to show seriously strong home form in 2017/2018, with a comfortable victory over Brighton on Sunday at The Emirates.

The Gunners completed a fine week with a win over Brighton that never looked in doubt.

Nacho Monreal opened the scoring on 16 minutes with a right footed finish after a number of Brighton blocks.

Alex Iwobi doubled Arsenal’s lead after the break with a superb finish from an exquisite Alexis Sanchez backheel.

Can the Gunners win the league?

Arsenal moved up to fifth in the Premier League on Sunday with a comfortable home win over Brighton.

They are level on points with Chelsea, while they are six points behind Man United and Man City.

So can Arsenal win the Premier League?
Arsene Wenger seemed confident the Gunners can still finish on top this season. He said “Only seven games played, 31 to go. Last year after six games Man City was top with 18 points.”

Arsenal take on Man City at the start of November.

Ozil & Koscielny

Two players were missing for Arsenal on Sunday: Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny.

Koscielny has already been withdrawn from the French squad for the upcoming international break.

The centre-half is struggling with a chronic Achilles problem.

As for Ozil, the German World Cup winner missed Sunday’s match with a knee problem.

Ozil will not join up with the German squad.
