Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed who he thinks could well fit the bill to become the next captain of the club at the end of the season.
That comes in the form of Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey who the Frenchman has now backed to become the next Arsenal captain.
This is due to Per Mertesacker’s retirement at the end of the season, something he has already announced will happen at the end of the current campaign.
This leaves the club short on a captain and with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both looking to leave the club there are a few options.
Though, Arsene Wenger has already tipped Aaron Ramsey to take up the responsibility next season.
“Why not? It is all there. He has the maturity, has improved technically and is more conscious of the importance of his technical qualities,” he explained.
“His game is clean. He has a huge physical power.”
“The target for him will be to have 30 games.”
This comes as the player struggles to get consistent time on the pitch with the Emirates side with a plethora of players playing over him.
That comes in the form of Granit Xhaka, Elneny and even Jack Wilshere who featured in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash with Doncaster.
Should Ramsey get a consistent run of games this season, he could well be in with a big shout of becoming Arsenal captain.
Fact: Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka have won all games at home when they started together in the league.
