A head-turning statistic, surrounding the defensive nous of Arsenal star William Saliba, has come to the fore on Saturday evening.
French international Saliba, of course, was back in action earlier today.
Fresh off a stellar opening to the campaign on the back of his return to England with Arsenal, the stopper was afforded a fresh start at the heart of the Gunners’ defence for a highly-anticipated North London Derby showdown with Tottenham.
And what an evening Saliba went on to enjoy.
En route to an eventual 3-1 triumph for the hosts at the Emirates, the 21-year-old shone once more, manning Mikel Arteta’s backline with the kind of poise and composure of a player much his senior.
And, as alluded to above, such efforts have since given rise to not one, but two altogether noteworthy statistics.
As per Opta, Saliba won possession back for Arsenal on no fewer than 11 occasions over the course of the 90 minutes against Spurs.
And, in the process, the Frenchman took his Premier League tally for the campaign to a hefty 71, more than any other player in England’s top-flight.
