Arsenal’s summer transfer budget
Whoever succeeds Arsene Wenger at Arsenal will only have a limited budget for their summer recruitments.
That’s according to the Daily Mail on Tuesday, as it’s revealed Arsenal only have 50 million pounds to spend in the off-season.
The Gunners financial constraints are due to heavy investment in recent seasons. Arsenal fans are told:
Arsenal are seeking a strict disciplinarian to shake the club out of its malaise as it emerged that the new manager will have as little as £50million to spend on transfers this summer.
Arsenal chiefs want to appoint a hardline boss as they look to extract every ounce of potential from their existing squad.
Of course, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have joined Arsenal in big deals recently. While Mesut Ozil recently signed an expensive new contract with the Gunners.
Mainz’s Abdou Diallo & Wolfsburg’s Ohis Felix Uduokhai
The Daily Mail go on to report that Arsenal’s primary goal in the summer is to sign a new centre-half.
Laurent Koscielny is known to suffer from chronic Achilles problems, while Shkodran Mustafi has come under repeated criticism this season for a series of mistakes throughout the campaign.
Two players are named as targets: Mainz’s Abdou Diallo and Wolfsburg’s Ohis Felix Uduokhai.
Abdou Diallo is a 21-year-old French defender, who is under contract at Mainz until 2022. This season he’s made 25 Bundesliga appearances, scoring twice.
Ohis Felix Uduokhai is anther young defender: the German is just 20.
Uduokhai is under contract at Wolfsburg until 2022, while he’s only made 17 Bundesliga appearances this term.
