Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi may join Roma as Dejan Lovren deal collapses

Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi may join Roma

Will Arsenal manage to offload Shkodran Mustafi this summer?

After two matches this season, Mustafi has yet to make an appearance for the Gunners.

At the same time, the German’s path to Unai Emery’s XI has been blocked by the arrival of David Luiz from Chelsea.

Previously this summer, Monaco had been linked with a possible move for Mustafi.

However, the big news this week is that Roma could end up signing the defender instead.

Where have the Mustafi to Roma rumours come from?

The source of the rumour is an Italian website called Forza Roma.

According to Goal.com, Forza Roma are a “Gazzetta dello Sport contributor”.

Forza Roma claim that Mustafi could join the Giallorossi on loan, while Roma may also secure an option to buy the German.

Mustafi could ultimately cost Roma 25 million euros.

Readers are told that “Shkodran Mustafi is ready to leave Arsenal and the Giallorossi are interested.”

For the record, Mustafi still has two years to run on his current Gunners contract.

Liverpool: Dejan Lovren deal collapses

Last week, reports spread that Roma could try to sign Dejan Lovren from Liverpool.

Lovren, 30, is under contract at Anfield until 2021.

However, the Mirror have today confirmed that Roma have no intention of pressing forward in trying to sign Lovren:

Roma have reportedly identified Arsenal’s out-of-favour centre-back Shkodran Mustafi as their new No.1 defensive target after failing to agree a deal with Liverpool for Dejan Lovren.

Liverpool wanted his exit to be permanent and were demanding a £26million fee. That ultimately put Roma off.
