Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is injured

Arsenal & Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

It’s been an interesting season for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal.

On the face of it, Aubameyang’s numbers for the Gunners are impressive.

In 12 Premier League matches for Arsenal, Aubameyang has scored an impressive seven goals.

Indeed Aubameyang is the joint second top scorer in the league with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

Man City’s Sergio Aguero has eight goals in the league.

Aubameyang was also named the Premier League Player of the Month for October.

The Gabonese striker is the first Arsenal player to win that award since Olivier Giroud won the prize back in March 2015.

However, at the same time there have been questions over Aubameyang’s place in the Arsenal setup.

Unai Emery has consistently failed to allow Aubameyang to complete 90 minutes in league matches.

While Aubameyang’s position in the Arsenal XI still doesn’t seem to be locked down.

Aubameyang is injured

On Saturday, Gabon were beaten 1-0 at home by Mali in an African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Aubameyang, who was originally called up to the Gabon squad, subsequently pulled out of international duty.

In recent days the Arsenal striker has revealed on social media that he’s injured. Aubameyang has a back problem.

Writing on Twitter, Aubameyang revealed the following:

It’s bizarre. Any FA will publish the reason why one of its players can’t report for international duty.

But in this case, our association definitely received an e-mail from my doctor (saying I am injured). However, they still haven’t made this fact public.

People are going to say that Aubameyang declined to turn up. It looks as though I have refused to come along for a different reason.

Arsenal travel to Bournemouth next weekend in the Premier League.
