Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal & Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno: Transfer updates

Marseille’s January transfer plans

This weekend France Football have analysed Marseille’s January transfer plans.

After 16 matches, Marseille are 5th in Ligue 1.

While PSG are again running away with the league, Marseille are in a fierce battle for a top three spot.

In order to keep up their fight for a Champions League berth, France Football have listed five players who could join this new year.

That list includes two Premier League defenders: Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal and Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno.

Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno

Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno is 26-years-old.

The Spanish left-back is only under contract at Anfield until 2019.

Does Moreno have a future with the Reds? This season he’s only played in four matches in all competitions, including just twice in the Premier League.

Andy Robertson is firmly the number choice for Jurgen Klopp at left-back.

According to France Football, Moreno’s name keeps popping up in relation to Marseille. Rumours have been swirling for several weeks.

It’s believed that Liverpool would be keen on selling Moreno in January in order to recoup a fee.

While Sevilla are also in the running for Moreno, OM are also hopeful of making the signing.

But would Moreno leave Liverpool when the club could be on the verge of a historic title success?

Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal

Now 32-years-old, does Nacho Monreal have a future at Arsenal?

Monreal is out of contract at the end of the season, and France Football reveal that talks are on hold about an extension.

It’s claimed that Monreal’s future “is not totally clear from Arsenal’s side… (and) the Gunners could be forced to sell this winter to avoid him going for free next summer.”

Marseille play with three at the back, and Monreal could be ideally suited to fill in at the left sided spot.
