Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi reveals his dream XI

Matteo Guendouzi

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has this afternoon provided an insight into his star-studded dream XI.

Arsenal switch

19-year-old midfielder Guendouzi made the surprise move to the Emirates from Lorient in July, for an undisclosed fee thought to have been in the region of £7 million.

But, despite having been expected to feature predominantly for the Gunners at youth level due to his tender years, Guendouzi has since gone on to establish himself as an important member of Unai Emery’s first-team squad.

To this point in the campaign, the French U21 international has racked up 26 appearances across all competitions. In addition, impressively, 12 of these have come as starts in the Premier League.

The youngster has showcased poise and ability far beyond his years during his fledgling Arsenal career, and this afternoon sat down for a chat with Arsenal’s official Youtube channel to discuss some of the players who have inspired him en route to becoming the player he is today.

Guendouzi put together a star-studded XI featuring his favourite players, with the end result having been dominated by legends, past and present, from PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Gianluigi Buffon earns a deserved place between the posts, with fellow PSG star Dani Alves at right-back. Alves’ Brazilian international teammate Marcelo, meanwhile, takes his spot on the opposite flank.

Next comes Guendouzi’s impressive central-defensive pairing of Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos.

In front of his side’s back-4, the Arsenal starlet opts for two of the greatest midfielders of the last decade, in the form of Andrea Pirlo and Xavi.

And a frankly-frightening front-4 rounds out the XI, with 5-time Ballon D’Or winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi flanking Juventus, Real Madrid and France legend Zinedine Zidane.

Finally, spearheading Guendouzi’s XI is Brazilian legend Ronaldo Luís Nazário.
