Torreira’s Arsenal stint
Lucas Torreira made the switch to Arsenal in July of 2018 from Serie A outfit Sampdoria.
The Gunners are believed to have paid around £25m for the Uruguayan’s services.
Since making the switch to north London, Torreira has racked up 65 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal, in which he has scored four and assisted five.
Torreira has featured 15 times for Arsenal this campaign, but the midfielder doesn’t seem too settled in north London.
Torreira set for Italy return?
Torreira’s agent claimed early this season that his client isn’t too happy about his change in role.
Torreira himself has also dropped a hint that he may be eyeing a move away.
The 23-year-old recently stated that he will see what happens when the transfer window arrives.
In the same interview, Torreira mentioned how we would like to play for Boca Juniors at some point:
“Today Arsenal needs me to be focused. I can’t start talking about another team. I need to be focused and when the transfer period arrives we will see what happens.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future. But I would like to be able to play for Boca. It’s a dream I have for what that institution represents.” As quoted by Tiempo de Fútbol.
Torreira has also previously mentioned how he didn’t know if there were many things that he enjoys in England.
And now, according to the Sun, Torreira is receiving some interest from Italy.
The report from the Sun claims that Torreira is wanted by Serie A pair AC Milan and Napoli in the January window.
The Sun also claim that Torreira is unsettled in the Premier League, and assessing his options.
