Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny a ‘serious target’ for Borussia Dortmund

Is Koscielny’s Premier League career coming to an end?

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal central defender Laurent Koscielny this summer.

The French defender has been at Arsenal for nine years now, playing 353 times for the Gunners.

His time on the pitch, though, is starting to get trimmed back.

Despite featuring 10 times in the Europa League, Koscielny only made 17 appearances in the Premier League last season.

Instead, Unai Emery often opted for Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi in central defence (though Koscielny did miss a large chunk of the campaign through injury).

This has led to reports that Koscielny could leave in the summer transfer window.

L’Equipe suggested recently that the Europa League final against Chelsea could be his final game for Arsenal.

It was even suggested in the same report that the Gunners want Samuel Umtiti as his replacement.

Inter Milan and a plethora of other clubs have also previously been linked with moves for Koscielny, but there are now suggestions that Borussia Dortmund are interested.

Koscielny targetted by Bundesliga clubs

According to BILD, as cited by Sport Witness, Dortmund see Koscielny as a ‘serious’ option during the summer transfer window.

With Arsenal set to lose the Frenchman on a free transfer next summer, it is said that the Gunners ‘want to get rid of him’.

While there’s no mention of any fee, you wouldn’t expect him to cost Dortmund a lot considering his age.

For Arsenal, getting something for him this summer is better than nothing at the end of next season.
