Arsenal’s latest team news update hints at timely return for Liverpool clash

Arsenal have, on Thursday evening, provided a team news update on the club’s squad, ahead of their upcoming showdown with Liverpool.

Anfield matchup

Mikel Arteta’s men will of course return to action this weekend.

On the back of the international break finally coming to a close, the Gunners’ stars will turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, in a Premier League meeting with the aforementioned Liverpool.

The clash marks something of a key one for both sides, with visitors Arsenal currently in the midst of an 11-game unbeaten streak, and keen to cement their place amongst the top-6 once more.

Liverpool, on the other hand, slipped to a first loss of the campaign at West Ham last time out, with a bounce-back result therefore firmly on the agenda for Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasers.

Partey boost?

In turn, ahead of what will no doubt prove an altogether challenging evening’s work on Saturday, as alluded to above, Arsenal have provided the club’s supporters with an update on the wellbeing of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

And the news, for the most part, has proven of an encouraging nature.

The only real concern came in the form of an insight into the fitness of Sead Kolasinac, who picked up an ankle injury whilst on international duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina this week:

Sead sustained a significant injury to his left ankle playing for Bosnia and Herzegovina during the international period. Sead is now starting his rehabilitation back in the UK and continues to be assessed.

On Granit Xhaka, who has not featured since late September owing to a serious knee injury, it was confirmed that:

Granit is continuing to make good progress in his recovery from a medial knee ligament injury sustained on September 26. Granit is now running outside with the current aim to be back in full training in January.

Perhaps most significant of all, though, was the revelation that:

All other players in the men’s first-team squad are currently fit and available for selection.

Such a statement would appear to suggest that star midfielder Thomas Partey, who was viewed as a major doubt to feature at Anfield, has enjoyed a full recovery from injury:
