Arsenal’s Emery on Ozil being loaned out in January: ‘He’s our player now’

Arsenal vs Standard Liege

Arsenal are set to take on Standard Liege on Thursday evening in their second Europa League outing of the season.

This will be Arsenal’s second game this week, after Unai Emery’s side drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Monday evening.

The Gunners’ last European outing saw them dominate German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, coming away with a 3-0 win.

As a result, Arsenal are currently top of Group F.

As for Standard Liege, they are in second spot, as they beat Vitoria SC in their first group game of the campaign.

Unai Emery on Mesut Ozil

Prior to facing off with Standard Liege, Unai Emery held his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Emery discussed a number of things, including whether or not Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin could play a role on Thursday, which you can read about here.

Another topic on the agenda at the press conference was Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has played just twice in the 2019/20 campaign for Arsenal, with only one of those appearances having come in the Premier League.

The Daily Mail also recently ran a story about Ozil, claiming that the north London outfit are ready to let the German leave on loan in January.

Emery then spoke about the prospect of Ozil going out on loan in January, giving this rather vague statement:

“He’s our player now.” As quoted by Arsenal’s official website.
