Arsenal & Dynamo Dresden’s Markus Schubert
As confirmed by the Independent’s Jack Pitt-Brooke, Arsenal appear to be on the verge of signing Dynamo Dresden’s Markus Schubert.
Schubert is a 21-year-old goalkeeper, who could switch to Arsenal on a free transfer.
Bild first broke the Schubert to Arsenal story
Germany’s Bild linked Arsenal with Schubert a few days ago.
Of course, Arsenal are in need of a new keeper on their roster after Petr Cech’s departure from the club this summer.
Bernd Leno appears locked in as Unai Emery’s number one, however the Gunners need a back-up.
As previously noted by Bild, Schubert is a free agent after his contract at Dynamo Dresden expired.
Who is Markus Schubert?
Last season, playing in the Bundesliga 2, Schubert made 43 appearances for Dynamo Dresden.
During that time, Schubert kept 12 clean sheets.
He’s been rewarded for his performances with a German under-21 call-up.

So what’s the latest with Arsenal & Schubert?
The Independent report the following:
Arsenal are closing in on a deal for German goalkeeper Markus Schubert.
Although the deal is not officially completed yet, Arsenal are already exploring the possibility of loaning Schubert out for the forthcoming season.
They have contacted Championship clubs about him as well as teams back in Germany.
It’s also claimed that Arsenal’s former head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, was the first to identify Schubert as a possible target.
In the event that Arsenal sign Schubert and then loan him out, Emiliano Martinez could be in line to be the Arsenal number two in 2019-20.
