Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos has lightheartedly moved to reject speculation that he could be used as part of an exchange deal between Real Madrid and Sevilla this summer.
Ceballos joins Gunners
On the back of a somewhat hit-and-miss couple of seasons at the Bernabeu following his arrival from Real Betis, Spanish midfielder Ceballos was hotly-tipped for a departure from Real Madrid throughout last summer.
A host of clubs, including the likes of Tottenham and AC Milan, were named as keen suitors of the all-action midfielder.
In the end, though, it was Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal who clinched a deal for Ceballos.
The 23-year-old made the move to the Emirates on loan for the 2019/20 campaign:

Ceballos, though, has since gone on to endure a somewhat hit-and-miss stint in the colours of the Gunners.
Though he enjoyed an impressive start to life in north London, with starring performances versus the likes of Burnley and Bournemouth, the Spaniard has actually managed starts in just 10 of the club’s 28 Premier League fixtures to this point in the campaign.
This comes amid competition for places in Arsenal’s midfield, and a long-term injury which kept Ceballos on the sidelines from November through January.
Ceballos’ return to fitness, to his credit, had since seen the Real Madrid man go on to reestablish himself as a key figure in the Gunners’ ranks, with new boss Mikel Arteta having opted for his fellow countryman from the off in his side’s last 4 outings before the COVID-19 outbreak brought football across Europe to a halt.
Sevilla links shut down
Nevertheless, it has, for the most-part, remained altogether unclear whether Arsenal could swoop to make their midfield loanee’s transfer permanent come the summer.
As such, Ceballos’ future, as things stand, appears completely up in the air.
As outlined above, though, the Spaniard himself has this weekend moved to shut down speculation linking him with one club in particular.
Journalist Juanma Lorente recently took to Twitter to suggest that Ceballos could be used as part of an exchange deal between parent club Real Madrid and Sevilla.
Such a transfer would involve the now-Arsenal man making the move to the latter, with Lucas Ocampos heading to the Bernabeu.
This would prove particularly significant for Ceballos, with the midfield all-rounder having of course made his name with Real Betis, Sevilla’s fiercest rivals.
Based on the 23-year-old’s latest social media activity, though, crossing the Andalusian divide is not an option which Ceballos even wants associated with his name.
In response to Lorente’s aforementioned Tweet, Ceballos last night posted a simple but effective GIF of Donald Trump, essentially shutting down the rumour at its source:
