Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka bags individual award on back of England’s meeting with Andorra

Arsenal and England attacker Bukayo Saka has, on Monday, been rewarded for his starring display versus Andorra last night.

Lingard at the double

Gareth Southgate’s men were of course back in action 24 hours ago.

The Three Lions welcomed minnows Andorra to Wembley, for their latest 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture.

England no doubt headed into proceedings with confidence brimming in the camp, after keeping alive their flawless start to qualifying courtesy of a 4-0 drubbing of Hungary during the week.

And, when all was said and done on Sunday, Andorra were subjected to a similar hammering.

A dominant display, during which the hosts racked up an eye-watering 88% of the possession, eventually culminated in another 4-0 victory.

Jesse Lingard opened the scoring in the Group I clash early on, before Harry Kane settled any remaining jitters from the penalty spot with 72 minutes on the clock:

And there was still time for some gloss to be added to the scoreline.

First up came Lingard’s brace a little over ten minutes from time, before Bukayo Saka rounded out a fine evening’s work for England with a late 4th:

Saka starring

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close on Sunday evening, it came as little surprise to see a whole host of Three Lions stars singled out for praise.

The likes of brace-hitter Lingard and midfield starlet Jude Bellingham both shone throughout the action in London.

As outlined above, though, it is another member of Gareth Southgate’s squad who has today been rewarded for his starring display versus Andorra.

The player in question? Bukayo Saka.

Wide-man Saka was handed his first start for England since missing the crucial spot-kick which ultimately ended the nation’s Euro 2020 dream during the summer, and stepped up in a major way.

All told, the Arsenal star, on the day of his 20th birthday, bagged a goal and two assists last night.

And such efforts did not go at all unrecognised on the part of the Three Lions faithful, who, on Monday, voted Saka as their Player of the Match versus Andorra:
