Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka bags Europa League award following display vs Slavia

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka bags Europa League award following display vs Slavia

Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka has today been rewarded for his standout display in the club’s victory over Slavia Prague on Thursday.

Gunners run riot

Mikel Arteta and co. were of course back in action a little less than 24 hours ago.

The Gunners made the trip to the Czech capital, for a crunch Europa League quarter-final showdown with Slavia Prague.

Arsenal’s season was essentially on the line in the clash, with the north Londoners having long surrendered their hold on the FA Cup, and slipped to the depths of mid-table in the Premier League.

In turn, on the back of a disappointing 1-1 stalemate in the tie’s opener at the Emirates last week, a bounce-back performance was of paramount importance on Thursday night.

And, when all was said and done at the Eden Area, to say that the English giants indeed bounced back would be putting it lightly.

A scintillating display, during which Arsenal had all but decided the outcome within the opening 25 minutes, eventually saw Arteta and co. emerge on the right side of a 4-0 scoreline.

Nicolas Pepe was first on target, before Alexandre Lacazette and Bukayo Saka piled the misery on a shell-shocked Slavia with early strikes of their own:

There was even time for Lacazette to add his 2nd, and 4th in two appearances, late on, as the Gunners finally threw off the shackles to produce the kind of performance the club’s fans have so long been crying out for.

Spectacular Saka

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close in Prague last night, it has since come as little surprise to see a host of Arsenal stars singled out for widespread adulation.

The likes of Nicolas Pepe, Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey have all been showered in praise for their respective showings versus Slavia.

None, though, has been more persistently lauded than Bukayo Saka.

Wide-man Saka was actually a doubt for the clash, having been withdrawn early in Arsenal’s win over Sheffield United last weekend.

The 19-year-old, though, recovered to feature from the off, bagging a well deserved goal amid a wonderful all-round performance on the visitors’ right-wing.

And, as outlined above, such efforts have today seen Saka rewarded, with the crown of Europa League Player of the Week:
