‘Arsenal’s best player this weekend’: Gunners trolled following Joe Willock’s equaliser vs Tottenham

‘Arsenal’s best player this weekend’: Gunners trolled following Joe Willock’s equaliser vs Tottenham

Newcastle vs Tottenham

Tottenham made the trip up north on Sunday afternoon for a clash with Newcastle United.

Spurs headed into the tie in pretty decent form, having notched four wins from their previous five league outings.

The Lilywhites were also no doubt well aware ahead of kick-off at St. James’ Park that a win would see them move into the top-4, temporarily at least, after Chelsea were dealt a 5-2 defeat by West Brom on Saturday.

Proceedings actually got off to something of a nightmare start for the north Londoners, however, as some pretty poor defending allowed Joelinton to open the scoring just before the half-hour mark:

Spurs, though, hit back almost instantly via Harry Kane, who then added a second four minutes later to fire the visitors into the lead:

Japhet Tanganga then came close to adding a third for Spurs in the second-half, but saw his header cleared off the line.

Joelinton, meanwhile, scuppered a huge chance of his own, smashing an effort wide after picking up the ball unmarked at the back post.

Harry Kane nearly added his 3rd to kill the game off 84 minutes in, but hit the post from a counter attack.

And Newcastle then went straight down the other end to bag a point courtesy of an equaliser from Joe Willock.

The midfielder is, of course, currently on loan at Newcastle from Arsenal, Spurs’ bitter rivals.

In turn, after being hammered 3-0 by Liverpool this weekend, the Gunners have been subjected to some good-natured jibes on social media, amid suggestions that Willock stood as the club’s best player this weekend:
