Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez has shown his support for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero with his latest social media activity.
The story surrounding the future of Chilean international Sanchez was one of the talking points of the summer transfer window, with all of Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City having expressed an interest in the 28-year-old.
A deadline day move to the Etihad to join up with former boss Pep Guardiola was labelled as ‘imminent’ by a number of outlets at the end of August, but, in the end, a move failed to materialise, mainly due to Arsenal’s inability to secure a deal for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
As a result, Sanchez was left with no choice but to stay put in North London, though it is still widely predicted that the South American will depart the Emirates, either in January for a nominal fee or for free in the summer upon the expiration of his contract.
Manchester City are still viewed as the leading contenders for his signature, despite the Citizens having proven already this season that they are not exactly lacking in the goalscoring department.
Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of both the talents and attitude possessed by his former charge, and will, in all likelihood, push for the board at the Etihad to secure a January deal.
Social media activity
Sanchez, for his part, is also thought to be keen on a reunion with his former Barcelona boss, and this week made use of social media to show his support for one of Manchester City’s key men.
After Sergio Aguero netted versus Napoli during the week to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, City’s official Twitter page posted a gif, congratulating the Argentinian on his amazing feat.
Sanchez soon paid his respects to his fellow South American, by liking the post via his official Twitter account.
While this may should likely be viewed as little more than Sanchez showing his appreciation for Aguero’s sensational achievement, it should be noted that the Chilean has only ever ‘liked’ 66 posts during his time on Twitter.
