Arsenal star drops hint over his future plans in interview with French media

Arsenal rely on Laca

Alexandre Lacazette’s Arsenal career has always one of what could have been, overshadowed by the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang six months later (although judging by their friendship off the pitch, he would not agree).

This season has been no different: the now 30-year-old Laca has made 8 Premier League appearances, half of which were from the start, as Mikel Arteta looked to spark some firepower and creativity in the final third. However, the Frenchman has returned just one goal.

Come January, however, he will be the only senior forward at the club, with both Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe due to depart for the Africa Cup of nations, leaving Laca, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun as the only options to lead the line.

For at least a few games, then, Lacazette will be the main man, with Arsenal fans hoping he will be able to seize the opportunity.

Lacazette opens up on future

Now, with just 7 months left on his contract at The Emirates, Lacazette has opened up on what his future holds, and it sounds as though it will not be at Arsenal.

Speaking to French outlet Telefoot, the Frenchman revealed that he will be looking for offers when January comes, and he is free to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club.

Lacazette said:

“Obviously my agents are now looking left and right a bit. But not before January – I really want to turn towards something.”

“We’ll see what comes up, if the challenges are interesting, if the projects are nice and how I’m being counted on. So there’s still a lot of questions, and I would rather wait until January to position myself.”

“When I was in the squad before the last World Cup, and I wasn’t brought into the team, I wasn’t called up at all and it was very hard to believe that I would be in the final list to take part in the tournament. I would be a France supporter as I was in previous competitions.

Would a move help him get back into the star-studded French squad, and reignite his stalling career?
