Sky Sports News have today given an update on Aaron Ramsey’s contract talks with Arsenal which are still said to be well underway.
‘I’m very happy with him’
New Gunners boss Unai Emery has also given an update on Ramsey’s future at Arsenal.
“I’m very happy with him.
“Every day every training session he is with the ambition I want. He is working with quality. I want to work with him.”
Asked why Ramsey has yet to sign a new deal, Emery added,
“This is one question for the player, the club, but my opinion – I said to them – I think he is one important player for me.”
Changes at Arsenal
Ramsey’s contract talks come on the back of some changes to Arsenal’s transfer and contracts policies.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis has spoken about Arsenal’s new transfer/contract policy that is being reshaped after Arsene Wenger’s departure.
“We really have a collective effort now, in terms of how we identify players and then how we take forward our interest, and of course Unai is a huge part of that,”
“This is now a different way of doing things, one with a very, very accomplished team of professionals who we have spent time bedding into the club.
“We have the challenge of integrating an awful lot of new ideas and new people and new energy.
“We have brought in a new head of recruitment in Sven Mislintat and alongside him is Huss Fahmy, who has been involved with negotiating a lot of our player contracts, and also we have Raul Sanllehi who joins us from Barcelona.
“Unai has been in the thick of that process in terms of what we need in the squad.
“I don’t believe in bringing a player in that the coach does not want individually and also positionally.”
Time at Arsenal
Ramsey has spent nearly all of his career at Arsenal.
The central midfielder signed for the Gunners in 2008 from Cardiff City with the fee in the region of £5.7 million.
Since signing from Cardiff Ramsey has made 331 appearances for Arsenal. In which he has scored 59 and assisted 57.
Ramsey has also helped Arsenal win three FA Cups and two Community Shields and now looks set to commit his future to the Gunners.
