Arsenal’s 2018-19 depth chart: Gunners possible XI vs Manchester City

Arsenal & 2018-19 Premier League

Last season was rough for Arsenal.

They finished sixth in the Premier League to qualify for the Europa League once again.

However the year ended on a high as Arsene Wenger walked away from the Gunners after 22 years.

A major transition is now underway at the Emirates Stadium, starting with Unai Emery’s appointment.

Arsenal are also busy in the transfer market. Five players have already joined the Gunners: Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.

At the same time, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere have left Arsenal.

Arsenal vs Manchester City

The Gunners start their new Premier League campaign with a home match against reigning champions Man City.

Can Arsenal beat Pep Guardiola’s men to kickstart their new season with a bang?

Emery has less than four weeks to hone down his starting XI for the new campaign.

With so many options at his disposal, there are lots of questions to be answered.

Will Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang start in tandem with Alexandre Lacazette. Or will it be one or the other?

And can Emery crowbar Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan into his team without giving up defensive stability?

Arsenal’s depth chart

Considering how Arsenal’s squad is shaping up, there’s reason to try and create a 4-2-2-2 formation for the Gunners.

Using that possible formation, Arsenal’s 2018-19 depth chart looks like this:

While Arsenal have some obvious quality in their starting XI, the make-up of their squad may have fans concerned.

Arsenal seem to have far too many defensive options. How can Emery keep all those players happy?

While at the same time Arsenal seem a little short of back-up options further up-field.

Do Arsenal need to buy a couple of attacking players this summer?
