Arsenal will consider moving for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey in summer – Telegraph

Thomas Partey’s Atletico Madrid stint

Thomas Partey has been on Atletico Madrid’s books for all of his senior career.

The now 26-year-old has enjoyed a couple of loan spells throughout his career, but over the last few seasons, Partey has cemented himself as an integral member of Atletico’s midfield.

In total, Partey has racked up 174 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga giants, in which the defensive-minded midfielder has scored 15 and assisted 12.

Partey already has 35 appearances to his name this term, the latest of which came on Wednesday when Atletico Madrid travelled to Anfield for the second of two Champions League last-16 ties.

Atletico already had a 1-0 lead from the first-leg, and after extra-time at Anfield, Diego Simeone’s side emerged with a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Arsenal eyeing Thomas Partey

Partey impressed in said tie, and with the midfielder currently contracted to the club until 2023, it is hard to see Atletico wanting to part ways with such a top talent anytime soon.

However, the Ghana international does look to be attracting some attention from elsewhere in Europe.

According to the Telegraph, Premier League outfit Arsenal will consider moving for Partey when the summer transfer window opens.

The Atletico standout, who is said to have a release clause of £45m, is believed to be high on Mikel Arteta’s list of targets ahead of his first full season as Gunners boss, as per the Telegraph.

Arsenal could struggle to persuade Partey to leave Atletico Madrid for them, though, as it is unlikely the north Londoners will be able to offer him Champions League football next term.
