Arsenal and West Ham set to go head to head for Italian defender

Head to head

Arsenal and West Ham are set to go to battle over the signature of an Italian defender either in the January transfer window or the summer.

That defender comes in the form of Sporting’s Cristiano Piccini who plays at full-back for the Portuguese giants.

The Italian played for Real Betis only last season but moved to Sporting during the summer transfer window.

Since then, the player has impressed in his seven appearances for the club so far and West Ham and Arsenal are keeping a very close eye on the player.

That is with the potential of either side making a bid for the player either in the winter or the summer, with the latter more likely.

That comes as the player has only just moved to the Portuguese League and might not be in as much of a hurry to leave.

Though, were a suitable offer to come in from Arsenal in the winter window it might be too difficult to turn down.

Reports in Portugal claim that the player has been watched by the two sides on several occasions which could lead to a bid.

Safe to say, it could come down to a bidding war between the two sides with Sporting unlikely to let the player leave cheap.

Alexis conundrum

Alexis Sanchez’ future at Arsenal remains shrouded in doubt and the club are not happy.

Arsene Wenger’s side risk losing the Chilean for free next summer but don’t want to let get of their prized asset.

Though, it’s looking more and more likely that the forward will leave the club.

Now, there has been a final nail in the coffin for Arsenal over Alexis’ future.
