Arsenal vs Wolves betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Arsenal vs Wolves prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Wolves

Two teams going in opposite directions.

Arsenal are now unbeaten in 15 matches in all competitions and are looking to keep that run going.

Wolves meanwhile have lost their last 4 in league and cup and are looking to recapture their early season form.

Will Arsenal’s remarkable run continue or can Wolves halt them in their tracks?

Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Who will win?

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are heavy favourites and are priced at 3/5 to claim the three points.

Wolves meanwhile are 17/4 to claim their first victory over Arsenal since September 1979.

A draw is 3/1.

Both sides favour attacking football and over 2.5 goals is 8/13.

Both teams to score is 4/6.

Arsenal to win and both teams to score is 15/8.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was voted Arsenal’s player of the month for October. The Gabon forward has nine goals so far this season and is 7/2 to score first and 6/5 to net anytime.

Alexandre Lacazette scored the crucial equaliser last weekend against Liverpool. He’s also 7/2 to score first but is evens to score anytime.

Both Aubameyang and Lacazette to score is 10/3.

Raúl Jiménez got his first goal in six games last weekend. The Mexican forward is 17/2 to score first and 5/2 to score anytime.

Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Match preview

The Arsenal unbeaten run goes on.

They won 7 Premier League games in a row from 25 August to 22 October to climb up the table after losing their first two.

That streak was ended by two draws that felt vastly different from one another.

A late penalty pegged them back at Selhurst Park as they could only draw 2-2 at Crystal Palace.

Six days later, they hosted Liverpool in a game that would show just how far Arsenal have come.

When the visitors took the lead, many at the Emirates feared a disheartening defeat.

However, Alexandre Lacazette equalised with only 8 minutes to go and Arsenal fans were left feeling very pleased with their team.

They’ve managed to carry that form into the cup competitions too.

Brentford and Blackpool have been beaten in the Carabao Cup to set up a quarter-final clash with Tottenham next month.

In the Europa League, Vorskla Poltava and Qarabağ were dismissed ahead of a double header with the other side with a 100% record in the group, Sporting CP.

A couple of weeks ago, Danny Welbeck scored the only goal of the game at the Estádio José Alvalade to set Arsenal well on their way to top spot.

Thursday saw the second encounter with the Portuguese side, this time at home, but were held to a 0-0 draw.

That result ensures they’ll qualify from group E with two games to spare.

Attention turns back to the Premier League so can The Gunners return to winning ways in the league?

Wolves flattering to deceive?

Wolves meanwhile are struggling for form after such a good start.

After 8 Premier League matches, they had 15 points and had only lost once.

They kept 4 clean sheets in that time and it is not a consequence that those are the 4 games that they won.

Only the top 3 (Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool) have had more shut outs so far this season.

However, a less favourable statistic why they’re near the top is a key reason behind their poor form.

They’ve had the third most shots in the league (161) but have only scored 11 goals from that.

Only Southampton, Huddersfield Newcastle and Crystal Palace have a lower shot conversation rate.

This was most evident at Brighton.

Despite having 15 shots they were beaten 1-0 on the south coast.

That defeat was sandwiched in between a 2-0 home reverse against Watford and last Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Tottenham at Molineux.

In that run, they were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Leicester City in a penalty shootout.

They have though drawn with both Manchester clubs early on in the season, proving that they can compete with the best.

Can Nuno Espírito Santo’s side take points off a big side again?

Danny Welbeck Arsenal

Since coming into the team, Bernd Leno has established himself as the number one.

This saw the German start the last 4 league games with Petr Čech reduced to playing the recent cup games against Blackpool and Sporting.

Héctor Bellerín has been a pivotal figure at right-back.

He’s notched 4 assists in the Premier League so far this season; only Ryan Fraser, Benjamin Mendy and Raheem Sterling have more.

However, there are injury concerns in other areas of the defence.

What is certain is that Rob Holding will start after his magnificent recent performances.

Shkodran Mustafi is likely to be his partner with Sokratis Papastathopoulos only just coming back from injury.

Similarly at left-back, Sead Kolašinac, who started against Liverpool, may well retain his place with Nacho Monreal still not 100% fit.

In midfield, Granit Xhaka needs to be careful.

He’s picked up 4 yellow cards so far and, with huge Premier League fixtures looming, he doesn’t want to miss one through suspension.

Mattéo Guendouzi is back from suspension but will only be a substitute.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan did start on the right in the Liverpool match but Alex Iwobi’s impact off the bench may see him displace the Armenian.

Mesut Özil is loving life under Emery.

He’s got 4 goals this season already compared to the 5 he managed in the entirety of last season.

Danny Welbeck suffered a horrific injury on Thursday and is set to face an extended period on the sidelines.

Scoring goals won’t be a problem though.

What more is there to say about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette?

They have 15 goals between them this season and should do the damage again in another Arsenal win.

Wolverhampton Wanderers team news vs Arsenal

For Wolves, no manager has made less alterations to his starting XI than Nuno Espírito Santo.

Five Wolves players have played every minute of every game, the joint most with Chelsea.

One of those is Rui Patrício who’ll be looking for his fifth clean sheet of the season.

It also includes the entire back 3 of Coady, Bennett and Boly.

Euro 2016 winner João Moutinho has had a huge impact on the team alongside Rúben Neves

Many questioned whether at 5 ft 7 in Moutinho was too small for the Premier League.

The fact that he’s made the fifth most tackles in the division (36) would disprove that.

18 year-old academy graduate Morgan Gibbs-White came on in the Spurs match and changed the game.

His forward thinking passing and dribbling ability caught the eye of many but it is unlikely he’ll be thrown into such a big match as this.

Without doubt, the most competitive area of Wolves’ squad is the inside forward positions.

Ivan Cavaleiro and Hélder Costa were the two who started last week and their good performances should warrant another start.

However, all three of Léo Bonatini, Diogo Jota and Adama Traoré will feel they deserve a chance.

Raúl Jiménez, the main number 9, ended his goal drought against Spurs and will hope that is just the start of a flurry of goals.

This team has taken points off top sides before, can they do it again?
