Arsenal have won seven consecutive matches at the Emirates Stadium in all competitions, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

Napoli have only won one of their last four away games in all competitions, although they did beat Roma 4-1 away in that period.

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last eight Europa League matches at home and have not conceded in the last four.

Arsenal vs Napoli Europa League quarter-final match preview

Arsenal host Napoli at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

Unai Emery’s decision to rotate his side backfired on Sunday as the Gunners were beaten 1-0 at Everton. The defeat means that Arsenal are fifth in the table with six matches remaining.

With the Premier League’s top four race likely to go down to the final day of the season, the Europa League provides Arsenal with a genuine alternate route into next season’s Champions League.

Napoli were held to a 1-1 home draw by Genoa on Sunday. Dries Mertens was on target for the home side.

Napoli look set to finish second in Serie A this season. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are 20 points behind leaders Juventus but have a seven-point lead over Inter Milan.

Arsenal cruised into the quarter-finals after topping Group E with two games to spare. Napoli entered the Europa League at the round of 16 stage after finishing third in their Champions League group, below Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.

Arsenal and Napoli had identical results in the previous round of the competition against Rennes and Salzburg respectively, both losing the away leg 3-1 and winning the home leg 3-0.

Arsenal and Napoli have met twice previously in UEFA competition, each winning 2-0 at home in the 2013/14 season. The two sides also played out a 2-2 draw in the 2013 Emirates Cup.

Arsenal reached the last four of the Europa League last season. Napoli last reached the semi-finals of the competition in 2015.

The second leg takes place on 18 April in Naples. The winners of the tie will face one of Villarreal or Valencia in the semi-final.

Arsenal team news vs Napoli

Granit Xhaka and Laurent Koscielny remain doubtful after missing the trip to Goodison Park. Nacho Monreal provides a solid alternative for Koscielny if Emery decides to stick with three central defenders.

Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang, Alex Iwobi and Aaron Ramsey could all return to the starting line-up after starting Sunday’s game on the bench.

Alexandre Lacazette, Mohamed Elneny, Matteo Guendouzi, Henrikh MKhitaryan and Mesut Ozil are all at risk of being dropped.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos comes back into contention after missing Arsenal’s previous Europa League game through suspension. The Greek defender’s yellow card at the weekend means he is suspended for Arsenal’s next two league games so he will almost certainly start on Thursday.

Denis Suarez is yet to make his first start for Arsenal since joining on loan from Barcelona. The Spanish midfielder will have to settle for a spot on the bench on Thursday night.

Petr Cech has been Emery’s “cup keeper” this season and is expected to start in goal again.

Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin and Danny Welbeck are long-term injury absentees for the Gunners.

Napoli team news vs Arsenal

Defensive duo Kalidou Koulibaly and Nikola Maksimovic will return to the starting eleven after missing Napoli’s last Europa League match through suspension.

David Ospina has not featured for Napoli since suffering a head injury last month but the on-loan goalkeeper has been included in the traveling squad to face his parent club.

Lorenzo Insigne is in contention to start after coming off the bench on Sunday. Insigne will battle it out with Dries Mertens and Arkadiusz Milik for the two striker berths in Ancelotti’s eleven.
