The 139th FA Cup Final will, of course, be the first in the cup’s illustrious history to be played behind closed doors.

But, it sees two of the competition’s most successful clubs go head to head in a bid to add more silverware to their impressive collections.

This is the third time Arsenal and Chelsea have met in the final, with the Gunners winning both previous meetings, in 2002 and 2017.

Since that clash 18 years ago in Cardiff, 11 of the 18 FA Cup finals have been won by one of these two London rivals.

Overall, Arsenal have been in more finals than any other club (21) and won the cup more than anyone else, doing so on 13 occasions.

However, in the Premier League, it’s been Arsenal’s worst season for 25 years.

Mikel Arteta’s side finished eighth in the table so can only qualify for European competition next season by winning this final.

Their highlight of the season, so far, was a fortnight ago when, against all the odds, they beat Manchester City 2-0 in the semi-final; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a brace.

Can they cause another upset at Wembley?

A day later, Chelsea beat Manchester United 3-1 in the other semi; Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud, who’s a four-time FA Cup winner, amongst the goals.

If Giroud features in this game he’ll become only the third player to play for both teams in a specific FA Cup Final fixture.

The others are Francis Birley of Wanderers and Oxford University in 1873 and 1877 and Jack Reynolds of Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion in 1892 and 1895.

David Luiz, who’s gone in the opposite direction to Giroud, would also join that list.

Chelsea have had a far more successful league campaign, finishing fourth in Frank Lampard’s first season in charge.

Thus, the Blues are the favourites to beat Arsenal in a final just as they did in May 2019’s UEFA Europa League Final in Baku; a 4-1 demolition in Azerbaijan.

However, a lot has changed since then; both have new Head Coaches and the XIs could be unrecognisably different.

It’s a tough one to call but who will win the 2020 FA Cup at Wembley?
