Arsenal vs Brighton betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Arsenal vs Brighton prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Brighton

Can Arsenal keep their top 4 hopes alive?

Tottenham’s calamitous 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday means Arsenal can go just 1 point behind their bitter rivals ahead of the final day of the season.

Only a win would do it.

However, with the second leg of their Europa League semi-final to come on Thursday, they may well have one eye on the trip to the Mestalla.

As for Brighton, they are now safe so they can now relax.

A good omen for the home side could be that no team from the South Coast has ever won away to Arsenal in the Premier League.

So, will Arsenal return to winning ways in the league?

Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Who will win?

Arsenal are 2/5 to get their first league win in four outings.

Brighton have never won away to Arsenal in 8 attempts and are 6/1 to change that statistic.

A draw, which would certainly suit the visitors, is 7/2.

Under 2.5 goals is 11/10.

Both teams to score no is 5/6.

Arsenal to win and keep a clean sheet is 11/8.

Alexandre Lacazette scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season in midweek. He’s 7/2 to score first and 6/5 to net anytime.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Arsenal’s top scorer though with 25. He’s 14/5 to score first and odds on at 10/11 to make that 26.

Florin Andone is likely to lead the line for Brighton. The Romanian international is 15/2 to score first and 11/4 to get his sixth of the campaign.

Both Lacazette and Aubameyang to score is 16/5.

Both Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to score is 4/1.

Both Pascal Groß and Glenn Murray to score is 30/1.

Both Pascal Groß and Shane Duffy to score is 75/1.

Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Match preview

Arsenal’s contrasting form in the Premier League and the Europa League continues to amaze.

In their last 3 league games, they’ve lost 3-2 to Crystal Palace, 3-1 at Wolves and 3-0 at Leicester.

The most recent of those at the King Power Stadium was quite possibly their worst performance under Unai Emery.

Then, early on Thursday, that form appeared to be continuing.

Valencia took an early lead at the Emirates in the UEFA Europa League Semi-Final first leg.

However, a quick brace from Alexandre Lacazette got Arsenal in front before half time.

Then, with the match heading into second half stoppage time, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang volleyed home from close range.

3-1.

What a massive goal that could be.

Arsenal will now go to Spain’s east coast on Thursday with a decent lead.

Back in the Premier League, their chance of a top 4 finish look slim.

The Gunners are fifth, two points behind Chelsea with just two matches to go. Arsenal are four points behind Tottenham with a game in hand, and they could put huge pressure on their north London rivals.

Will Unai Emery put all of his eggs in the Europa League basket here?

Brighton stay up thanks to their bitter rivals Crystal Palace!

As for Brighton, what a massive point that has turned out to be.

Last weekend, they fell behind early on at home to Newcastle in an extremely nervy AMEX Stadium.

However, with just 15 minutes to go, Pascal Groß popped up and slammed in an equaliser.

1-1 it finished.

Chris Hughton’s team may be winless in 7 but have somehow survived on just 35 points.

The Seagulls are 4 points above Cardiff City who now can not catch them after they lost 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

That’s a huge weight off the shoulders of Brighton.

Will they be able to play with that freedom here?

Laurent Koscielny

Unai Emery’s teams have been very difficult to predict this season.

However, it seems likely that he’ll rest a number of key players ahead of the massive game at the Mestalla on Thursday.

There will be a change in goal.

Bernd Leno, who was outstanding last weekend, will come back in for Petr Čech who remains the Europa League goalkeeper.

In defence, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is suspended after his red card last Sunday.

So, despite an underwhelming performance against Crystal Palace a fortnight ago, Carl Jenkinson could come back in at right-back.

Stephan Lichtsteiner appears not to be an option; his last appearance was 24 February against Southampton.

At centre-back, Laurent Koscielny hobbled off in midweek so is likely to be rested.

It’s likely to be a back 4 containing Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is not in the Europa League squad.

Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal are likely to make up the defence with Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Sead Kolašinac rested.

In midfield, there are less options.

Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) and Denis Suárez (groin) are both out for the rest of the season so neither will play for Arsenal again.

Lucas Torreira was a surprise omission on Thursday so he’s likely to come back in.

He’ll probably be partnered by Mattéo Guendouzi.

Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be out wide with Mesut Özil central.

Up front, it’ll be one of the two strikers.

It’s likely to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Arsenal look to exploit Brighton’s lack of pace at the back.

Aubameyang has been directly involved in 29 goals in his 28 starts for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in all competitions (23 goals, 6 assists).

Does this mix and match side have enough to defeat Brighton?

Glenn Murray Brighton

As for the visitors, their XI is expected to be similar to the one that lined up away to Spurs 12 days ago.

As ever, Mat Ryan will be in goal.

In defence, Bruno is expected to keep his place ahead of Martín Montoya at right-back.

On the other side, Bernardo is now first choice ahead of Gaëtan Bong.

The centre-backs never change.

Shane Duffy has made the most headed clearances of any player this season (150).

Duffy and Lewis Dunk are also both in the top 4 for blocks.

Both of those tallies may rise here.

In midfield, Beram Kayal is expected to keep his place ahead of Yves Bissouma.

Pascal Groß got his third goal of the season last weekend and will be the more creative outlet.

Davy Pröpper is still out with a hamstring injury.

Out wide, Chris Hughton is likely to pick his most hard working wingers.

That would see Jürgen Locadia and Alireza Jahanbakhsh start, just as they did at Tottenham.

Solly March, Anthony Knockaert and José Izquierdo will be on the bench.

As might Glenn Murray.

Their top scorer may well be left in reserve with the quicker Florin Andone preferred.

Can this side compound Arsenal to more Premier League misery?
