Arsenal training latest: Key midfielder returns as youngsters included before Leicester

A number of interesting takeaways from the latest training session held by Premier League giants Arsenal have been forthcoming on Thursday evening.

King Power clash

Mikel Arteta’s men are of course set to return to action this weekend.

After booking their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup at the expense of Leeds United on Tuesday night, the Gunners will now turn their attentions back towards matters on the Premier League front.

A crunch showdown with Leicester City lies in wait on Saturday afternoon, at the King Power Stadium.

The matchup represents a key one for both sides, who, as things stand, are separated only by goal difference in the English top-flight table.

Brendan Rodgers’ hosts boast the advantage, but both Arsenal and Leicester are no doubt fully aware that a victory in less than 48 hours’ time would guide them, at least temporarily, into the thick of the battle for European football.

Odegaard boost

As such, it goes without saying that Mikel Arteta will no doubt be hopeful of having as many of his key performers as possible fit and available to feature from the off for Arsenal’s trip to the east Midlands.

And, if the latest images stemming from the club’s training ground are anything to go by, then Saturday’s visitors look set to be boosted by the return of at least one key performer.

The man in question? Martin Odegaard.

Norwegian international Odegaard missed out in midweek after picking up an unspecified injury problem, but looks primed to mark his comeback versus Leicester:

Elsewhere, a host of the latest up-and-coming talent on the red half of north London – including both Tim Akinola and Joel Lopez – joined Arteta’s ranks for training, too:
