As per a report from the Express, Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in Yannick Carrasco come the end of the season.
Carrasco moves to China
25-year-old wide-man Carrasco made the surprise move to Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang in February of last year, following a two-and-a-half year stint with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
The Belgian endured an up-and-down stint with Los Colchoneros, with the highlight of Carrasco’s time with Diego Simeone’s men having come in May of 2016, when he netted a late equaliser in the Champions League final versus Real Madrid, eventually sending the clash to Extra-Time.
However, his inconsistencies led to the Genk youth product being heavily-linked with a departure from the Spanish capital last winter.
And, despite rumoured interest from the likes of Juventus and Arsenal, Carrasco eventually opted to join Chinese club Dalian Yifang.
Carrasco a wanted man
However, countless reports in January suggested that Carrasco is already eyeing a return to Europe.
The interest of both Arsenal and United was even confirmed by Carrasco’s wife during the winter transfer window.
Speaking in an interview with RTBF, Noemie Happart revealed:
‘Yes, they are very interested. I do not hide it, but nothing is signed.’
Arsenal maintain interest
And, as per the aforementioned report from the Express this evening, one of these sides maintain a keen interest in luring Carrasco to the Premier League this summer.
The outfit in question are Unai Emery’s Arsenal.
Emery is a keen admirer of the Belgian’s talents, and has earmarked Carrasco as the ideal addition to his squad.
However, one sticking point remains the 25-year-old’s massive wages.
As per the Express, Carrasco currently earns a whopping £8.8 million-per-season in China, a figure which would have to drop considerably in order for the former Atletico man to complete a move to North London.
