New long term deal for Nacho
Arsenal are trying to tie Nacho Monreal down to a long term deal with the club.
The Gunners are keen to keep the defender.
Unai Emery has of course come in and shaken things up after the departure of Arsene Wenger, and is a fan of the player.
Spaniard Nacho is a big fan of Unai Emery, and made that much clear.
He wants to stay
Nacho noted the tactical work is improving, and that he has no intention of leaving Arsenal.
It’s been six years since he joined, and at the minute, the club and Nacho are looking at extending that stay.
Standard Sport report he said: “At the moment we are talking with the club. I’ve always said I am really happy, I feel very happy playing for Arsenal. I came six years ago. I have a good relationship with them.
“We are in contact in any moment so don’t worry about that. I am happy here. That is the most important thing.
“But both managers like to have the ball, have long possessions and protect the ball during the games. Probably with Unai Emery, we work more tactically. He is a Spanish coach and in Spain we work a lot on tactics, set-pieces – I think we are improving in this aspect.
“This is our idea for this year – have more possession, don’t lose stupid balls in the middle of the pitch and be more compact than how we were before.”
Points aim for Arsenal
The Gunners will want to build on their work so far this season.
After a hard start, things are starting to fall into place, with wins over West Ham and Cardiff.
One thing that has worked is playing Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang together.
The duo are good friends off the field, and many wondered if they could play together on it.
That much is clear, and Emery will want to see more of that after the international break.
