Arsenal surprise XI vs Watford
When the team sheets came out on Sunday for Arsenal’s Premier League match with Watford there were major changes to the Gunners XI.
Of course, Arsenal are facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League via the top four.
Arsenal are off the pace in the Premier League, however they could still play UCL football next season by winning the Europa League.
But if that happened, would Arsene Wenger see out the final year of his contract?
Arsenal vs Watford – team sheets
The team sheets were as follows.
Arsenal: Cech; Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac; Elneny, Xhaka, Iwobi; Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang
Subs: Wilshere, Ospina, Chambers, Welbeck, Nelson, Nketiah, Willock
Watford: Karnezis (GK); Femenía, Prödl, Mariappa, Holebas; Doucouré, Capoue; Janmaat, Pereyra, Richarlison; Deeney (C).
Subs: Bachmann (GK), Britos, Hughes, Carrillo, Sinclair, Gray, Okaka.
Reaction to the Arsenal vs Watford XIs
After the win against AC Milan on Thursday night, Wenger appears to have rotated his side with the second leg in mind.
Have Arsenal’s priorities now shifted from the Premier League to Europe?

Arsene's priorities pretty clear: Koscielny, Chambers, Ramsey and Wilshere all rested against Watford.

Maitland-Niles at right back, no Ramsey in the squad at all.

Judging by that team selection we are going to go all out for the Europa League and use the league games to change things around, a bit like what Mourinho did last season at United.

Ramsey and Koscielny hopefully both just rested today. They're the two that need managing just to play Europa more than anyone else in our squad.

Right choices to let Koscielny and Ramsey have a break. Simply put, our league games don't really matter anymore.

Ramsey has now become our most important player. Doubt he plays another pointless Premier League game this season. His sole objective is to win us the Europa League now.

Single change from Javi Gracia.
Femenia returns after illness to replace Carillo who drops to the bench.
Holebas is passed fit.
No Gomes in the 18 due to personal reasons – Bachmann named amongst the substitutes.#watfordfc
