Arsenal have suffered yet another defensive injury blow during their Premier League clash with Manchester City on Sunday.
The club already have a long list of players who are out of the team due to injury and that list just got longer.
That is because Arsenal starlet Ainsley Maitland-Niles was forced off due to injury in the first-half.
While that doesn’t sound too big of a deal, it is when you look at the Gunners options at left-back.
Sead Kolasinac is set to miss up to 10 weeks of action following a serious injury against Chelsea in pre-season.
Nacho Monreal has also been out with injury but did return to training on Friday.
With that in mind, Ainsley Maitland-Niles was Arsenal’s third choice left-back going into the game against City and even he couldn’t stave off injury.
Despite impressing during the game, he hobbled off forcing Stephan Lichtsteiner to come on and play at left-back.
Arsenal will now just be hoping that the injury isn’t too serious and that Nacho Monreal will be able to start next week.
Otherwise, there could be somewhat of a left-back crisis at the Emirates.
Maitland-Niles looks gutted as he is taken away by medical staff. Hopefully that isn’t as bad as it looks.

Maitland-Niles looks to be in real pain after getting entangled with Walker. Worrying for Arsenal, who are completely without left-back options. #ARSMCI

City back with a bang
While Maitland-Niles’s injury was no doubt a huge blow, the defeat against Manchester City didn’t help.
Despite much optimism from Arsenal fans, it was Pep Guardiola’s side who came out on top due to a goal from Raheem Sterling.
The Englishman beat a couple of defenders before placing the ball past Petr Cech who probably should have done better.
It was then Bernardo Silva who sealed all three points for the reigning champions.
The forward was found free in the box by Benjamin Mendy and his first-time left-footed strike was a beauty.
