Arsene Wenger for England?

After a week of turmoil for the FA and Sam Allardyce, England are on the lookout for a new permanent manager.

Gareth Southgate has taken the job in a temporary capacity until the end of the year, which will see him take charge of matches against Malta, Slovenia, Scotland and Spain.

It’s highly possible that Southgate does well in those games – don’t forget Roy Hogdon won 10 out of 10 qualifiers in the run up to Euro 2016 – and that could pave the way to a long term plan for the FA.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is out of contract at the end of the year, so could he take over the job at that point?

Wenger opens the door

Ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League match away at Burnley on Sunday, Wenger has held a press conference on Friday.

During the session the Gunners boss was canvassed for his interest in the England job.

It’s fair to say Wenger is interested.
