Arsenal starlet the only Premier League inclusion on 10-man Kopa Trophy shortlist

Bukayo Saka will vie it out with the continent’s finest in his quest for the prize

The 10-man shortlist for the latest edition of the highly sought after Kopa Trophy has, on Friday, been unveiled.

For those not aware, the Kopa prize is handed out once a year, as part of France Football’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The accolade, named in honour of former French footballer Raymond Kopa, recognises the best performing player under the age of 21 across world football.

Previous winners of the award include the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Matthijs de Ligt and, most recently, Barcelona sensation Pedri.

And Pedri could soon be joined by a fellow member of the Blaugrana’s midfield ranks in adding his name to the list of Kopa winners.

This comes with prodigious talent Gavi having been nominated for the 2022 edition of the award.

Joining the Spanish international on the list of nominees, meanwhile, are the likes of Jamal Musiala, Eduardo Camavinga and Florian Wirtz.

The sole Premier League-based star up for the accolade comes in the form of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, fresh off a campaign which saw him emerge as the Gunners’ most integral attacking option.
