As per a report from Sky Sports News this evening, Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott is currently undergoing a medical with Everton.
Walcott, a 28-year-old English international, has been at Arsenal since joining the club from Southampton in 2006.
He has gone on to make almost 400 appearances for the Gunners, racking up more than 100 goals in the process.
However, the attacker has been in and out of Arsene Wenger’s starting lineup in North London for several seasons now, with injuries and the presence of more consistent stars having made life difficult for Walcott in the English capital.
He has managed just 6 appearances in the Premier League this term, all of which have come from the bench.
On the move?
As a result of his uncertain role with the club, Walcott was heavily linked with a departure from the Emirates during the summer.
The likes of Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and even Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus were touted as potential destinations for the 47-time capped Three Lions international, but, in the end, a move failed to materialise.
However, persistent rumours maintained that Walcott could yet be moved on during the current transfer window, with the attacker’s former club, Southampton, having already confirmed their interest in bringing their youth product back to St. Mary’s.
But, a report from Matt Law of the Telegraph last week revealed that it was in fact Everton, who are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements out wide, who had jumped firmly to the front of the queue for Walcott.
And, in a huge update coming courtesy of Sky Sports this evening, it has been revealed that the blistering Englishman is on the verge of a move to Goodison Park, with Walcott currently undergoing his medical with the Toffees.
Everton are expected to fork out a fee of around £20 million to Arsenal for the winger.
