German press lights up
The big rumour of the day in Germany on Monday centres on Bayern Munich’s summer recruitment plans.
It was a rough weekend for the Bavarians as they dropped two surprise points in a 2-2 home draw against strugglers Mainz.
That result came after Munich were turfed out of the Champions League by Real Madrid last week as they lost in extra time.
It seems clear that Bayern will again spend big this summer as they attempt to rebuild their team for a more significant UCL challenge, and that’s seen the German press speak with one voice on Monday claiming that Arsenal and Tottenham stars are on the Bavarians’ radar.
So who they after?
Starting with the Gunners, Bayern want to sign Alexis Sanchez, who is out of contract in 2018.
According to Kicker, Munich believe they can sign the South American for as little as 30 million euros this summer.
Were that move to happen, Alexis would team up with Chilean international team mate Arturo Vidal at the Allianz Arena.
As for Spurs, Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign Kyle Walker as Philipp Lahm prepares to head into retirement at the end of the season.
Does that mean Joshua Kimmich is out of Ancelotti’s future plans?
Whether the 26-year-old Tottenham defender is available is up for discussion, however, as he’s under contract with the Lillywhites until 2021.
German reports claim that Bayern hope to sign Walker for 18 million euros, however that seem way too low for arguably the best right-back in the Premier League.
