Gabriel’s Lille stint
Gabriel Magalhaes joined Lille in January of 2017, moving from Brazil for a fee believed to be around £2.7m.
After moving to Lille, Gabriel then spent just over half of the 2017/18 campaign out on loan with French outfit Troyes, where he made just four appearances.
The now 22-year-old then spent the rest of that campaign on loan with Dinamo Zagreb’s second team.
Gabriel then returned to his parent club in the summer of 2018, and despite a couple of fairly underwhelming loan spells, the Brazilian would slowly become an integral member of Lille’s squad.
The second half of the 2018/19 season was particularly fruitful for Gabriel, featuring in 13 Ligue 1 ties as Lille booked their place in the 2019/20 Champions League.
And after an impressive end to last term, Gabriel has carried his excellent form into the current campaign, racking up 30 appearances across all competitions for Lille, including six Champions League ties.

Arsenal eyeing Magalhaes?
And now it looks as though the promising central defender is garnering some attention from England.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are monitoring the Lille standout, with a view to a summer move.
The Sun claims that the Gunners enquired about the no-nonsense central defender in January.
And when speaking about a potential fee for Gabriel Magalhaes, the Sun suggested that Lille president Gerard Lopez is likely to demand almost £30m for Gabriel’s services.
That valuation, according to the Sun, is based on the £27m the north London outfit paid for St. Etienne’s William Saliba.
Saliba has made just six Ligue 1 appearances this season, largely due to injury problems.
