Arsenal refuse to meet Celtic’s Kieran Tierney asking price & Mohamed Elneny linked with Ligue 1 switch

Arsenal & Celtic’s Kieran Tierney

Will Kieran Tierney leave Celtic to join Arsenal?

On Monday, that’s looking increasingly unlikely, if the Express is accurate.

The tabloid are reporting that Arsenal are refusing to stump up Celtic’s asking price for Tierney.

That’s led the Express to link Arsenal with another left-back: Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez.

The Gunners have baulked at Celtic’s £25m price tag so far and are also keeping tabs on AC Milan full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, who is available for around £14m.

Ricardo Rodriguez is 26-years-old. He’s currently under contract at AC Milan until 2021.

Should Arsenal press forward with an attempt to sign Ricardo Rodriguez, the Gunners will have to deal with their former CEO Ivan Gazidis.

Mohamed Elneny offered exit to Ligue 1

Over in the Times on Monday, Mohamed Elneny’s possible summer exit from Arsenal is floated.

Elneny, 26, is now on his summer holidays, after Egypt were knocked out of the African Cup of Nations.

It seems fair to say that Elneny has failed to light up north London since joining from Basel in 2016.

While under contract with Arsenal until 2022, Elneny appears to have an option to move to the French top flight. The Times report:

Mohamed Elneny could leave Arsenal after an approach from Bordeaux. The Egypt midfielder, 26, made five league starts last season and has been made available.

He was offered to Crystal Palace and Fulham last summer but his £55,000-per-week wages were too high for them.

One suspects that Elneny will need to agree to a pay-cut if he plans to join Bordeaux.
