Arsenal ‘quietly optimistic’ over Tierney & Zaha deals – Independent

As per a report from Miguel Delaney of the Independent, Arsenal remain confident that they will be able to pull off deals for Kieran Tierney, Wilfried Zaha, and potentially one more player, before the close of the transfer window next month.

Arsenal making moves

On the back of weeks of rampant speculation, the 2nd and 3rd summer additions to Unai Emery’s squad were finally confirmed yesterday evening.

After Gabriel Martinelli made the move to the Emirates at the beginning of the month, Dani Ceballos and William Saliba have since followed suit.

Ceballos arrives on loan from Real Madrid, while Saliba has penned a long-term deal at the Emirates. The stopper, though, will spend next season back on loan with Saint-Etienne:

3 further arrivals?

Arsenal’s recruitment drive, though, is thought to be far from finished.

The Gunners have been linked with a whole host of potential further additions, chiefly at left-back and out wide.

The main players touted to fill these roles, meanwhile, have been Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

And, as per the aforementioned report from Miguel Delaney of the Independent, despite facing obstacles in finding deals for both, Arsenal nevertheless remain ‘quietly optimistic’ that Tierney and Zaha will be plying their trade at the Emirates by the end of the transfer window.

Though there is little insight provided into negotiations with Palace, Delaney suggests that ‘the Gunners’ hierarchy feel they can work out a deal whereby the clauses are more acceptable’ in negotiations with Celtic over Tierney.

Significantly, it is claimed that another unnamed player could also make the move to north London over the coming weeks.
