Arsenal provide fresh updates on Tierney & Martinelli ahead of Newcastle
Arsenal vs Newcastle
Arsenal will be back in Premier League action on Monday evening.
The Gunners’ last outing, of course, proved a rather disappointing one for Mikel Arteta and co.
Granted, Arsenal did manage to keep a clean sheet against Crystal Palace, extending their unbeaten run to five games across all competitions.
However, the north Londoners once again lacked any sort of real cutting-edge up top.
This saw them forced to settle for a point, leaving Arsenal languishing down in 11th place in the English top-flight, well off the pace of the current top-six.
Nevertheless, though, Arteta and co. will likely be confident of getting back on track in 24 hours’ time.
The Gunners downed Newcastle in an FA Cup 3rd round clash just last weekend.
The Magpies have also seriously struggled in the Premier League of late, and actually handed Sheffield United their first win of the season earlier this week.
Arsenal provide team news update ahead of Newcastle
Ahead of their upcoming meeting with Steve Bruce’s men, meanwhile, Arsenal have this afternoon provided a team news update.
The Gunners revealed the latest on the status of a number of players, the most high-profile of which came in the form of Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Tierney.
The pair sat out versus Palace due to injury, with the latter’s absence having been sorely felt.
The latest word on Tierney and Martinelli, though, suggests that both could be in contention to feature on Monday night.
As per Arsenal’s statement, the former has recovered from a tight calf, and is back in training with the club’s first-team squad. In turn, he will be assessed and tested ahead of Newcastle.
Martinelli, meanwhile, is back in full training and available for selection, whilst Pablo Mari has sustained a mild strain to his calf and will continue to rehabilitate over the coming days:
