Arsenal provide explanation for Nicolas Pepe’s absence vs Wolves

Arsenal have this evening moved to reveal why Nicolas Pepe is absent from the club’s matchday squad to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal visit Wolves

The Gunners are currently locked in action with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men at Molineux.

Arsenal headed into proceedings in much-improved form of late, having turned things around with a trio of consecutive victories.

After falling to defeats in their first two outings following the resumption of English football last month, Mikel Arteta’s outfit have since put all of Southampton, Sheffield United and Norwich to the sword over the last couple of weeks.

Arsenal, though, were no doubt aware ahead of proceedings getting underway that their latest test would likely prove their most trying since the restart.

Wolves are currently in the midst of a fine spell of their own, with the West Midlands-based club set to join Manchester United in 4th in the Premier League table, if they manage to pick up all 3 points this evening.

Pepe misses out

An hour prior to kick-off at Molineux, meanwhile, the two sides, as is customary, unveiled their respective starting XIs.

The main talking point surrounding not only Arsenal’s starting line-up, but squad as a whole ahead of kick-off, though, was the absence of Nicolas Pepe.

Ivorian wide-man Pepe has looked much improved of late, making his complete omission at Wolves this evening a major surprise.

Arsenal, though, have since provided an explanation for their club record signing missing out.

Pepe’s wife has gone into labour, with the former Lille man having travelled to be by her side as a result:
