Denis Suarez

Arsenal offered Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez for just £14 million

As per a report from the Independent, Barcelona have offered up Denis Suarez to Arsenal for a cut-price fee.

Barcelona outcast

Suarez, a versatile 24-year-old who can play either in an attacking-midfield role or on the wing, has been on Barca’s books since 2016, when he made the move to the Camp Nou from Villarreal.

However, despite having arrived in Catalunya with weighty expectations on his young shoulders, Suarez’s Blaugrana stint has, to this point, proved rather disappointing.

The former Manchester City youth did manage a respectable 26 La Liga appearances (12 starts) during his debut campaign with the Spanish champions, but has since fallen majorly down the midfield pecking order under Ernesto Valverde.

All told, Suarez managed just 4 league starts across the entirety of last season.

And the current campaign has seen game-time prove even more difficult to come by for the gifted midfielder. In fact, Suarez only made his first league appearance of the season during an 8-minute cameo versus Espanyol last weekend.

Arsenal bound?

As such, rumours have unsurprisingly been rife over recent weeks that Suarez could be on the move in January.

Chelsea and AC Milan have both been persistently linked with a swoop for the once-capped Spanish international of late.

However, it is another of Suarez’s rumoured suitors, in the form of Arsenal, who now look to have stolen a march in the race for his signature.

As per the aforementioned report from the Independent, the Gunners have been offered a cut-price, £14-million deal for the 24-year-old.

And Arsenal, for their part, are said to be ‘mulling over’ pulling the trigger on a bid.

The North Londoners are set to lose Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer next summer, with Suarez, who previously spent time playing under Gunners’ boss Unai Emery at Sevilla, viewed as a viable replacement.

As such, a January switch to the Emirates for the Barcelona man looks to be an increasingly-realistic possibility.
