According to a report from ESPN this afternoon, Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral is closing on a loan move to Championship outfit Hull City.
Toral, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder, arrived at Arsenal in 2011 from Barcelona with a big reputation on his young shoulders.
Having continued his development as part of the club’s youth setup for a further three years, Toral was eventually introduced to the Gunners first-team squad in 2014.
However, he has since struggled to make an impression on manager Arsene Wenger, and has been sent out on loan for each of the past three seasons.
His most impressive campaign to date came during the 2015-16 season, when he was named Birmingham City’s supporters’ and players’ player of the season.
Further loan spells at Granada and Rangers have seemingly not pushed the Spaniard any further up the midfield pecking order at Arsenal, though, with another temporary move away from the club now imminent.
And, as per the aforementioned report from ESPN, this loan stint will take place at the KCOM Stadium with Hull City, who have agreed a deal with the Gunners this afternoon.
News of Toral’s imminent arrival at Hull comes on the back of stories breaking yesterday that star midfielder Sam Clucas is set to join Premier League side Swansea City.
