Arsenal sign a mega new deal to go second behind Man United

Arsenal go second in the Premier League

The rumours have been going around for a few days.

As first reported by the Evening Standard’s James Benge, Arsenal have closed a new commercial deal with Fly Emirates.

Fly Emirates are the current sponsors on Arsenal’s kit. And that relationship is now set to continue for five more seasons:

Arsenal have signed a five-year extension to their shirt sponsorship deal with airline Emirates.

The extension through to the end of the 2023-24 season, the largest sponsorship deal ever signed by the club and understood to be worth over £200million over the course of five years, extends a partnership that will run to at least 18 years by the end of the newly-signed contract.

Details of the deal have been expanded upon by the Telegraph’s Jeremy Wilson.

He’s revealed that Arsenal carved out a section of their shirt for future additional sponsorship. In turn Arsenal could make even more money from their shirt deals.

Above Chelsea, behind Man United

Arsenal’s new kit deal will bring significant extra funds into the Emirates.

The hope from supporters will be that that money will be invested in recruitment.

40 million pounds can go a long way to buying one quality player in the summer.

In the bigger picture, Arsenal’s Emirates deal means the Gunners are only behind Man United in the shirt sponsorship stakes.

Chelsea are third, while Tottenham, Man City and Liverpool are further behind.
