Arsenal manager Unai Emery backs Aubameyang to get goals

Aubameyang will get goals

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has backed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to get goals this season.

The forward has struggled so far, yet retained the backing of his new manager.

Given his pedigree, that doesn’t come as a shock, but Emery also noted Arsenal have plenty of other forwards to turn to.

Emery added that it’s all about confidence, and his main man needs to get off the mark this season.

He said to Sky Sports“Aubameyang needs to find the confidence, then to score and score another,”

“The strikers, they need, I know a lot of strikers in my career and it’s about the moment, they need (to be in) the moment, and he’s the same.”

Arsenal have many forwards

Emery made it clear things aren’t all about Auba, and said that there are other forwards for him to turn to.

The Arsenal boss also mentioned last season, where Aubameyang had no issues finding the back of the net, and backed him to do so once again.

“But I’m sure now that Aubameyang, (Alexandre) Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, they will score more goals in here, for us, in Arsenal.

“Last year, Aubameyang scored goals here and for that I spoke with him more times and I have given him my confidence with his work.

“He is going to find goals. The first six months for him here is good and he was doing goals last year and for that I am sure he is going to do the same this time.”

Arsenal need a win

After seeing two defeats in their opening two games, Arsenal need a win against West Ham.

However, with their fellow Londoners in the same boat, it won’t be easy for Unai Emery and his side.

Jack Wilshere has noted how he thinks the Hammers can get three points.

He also said how much he had to prove against Arsenal, after the club allowed him to leave this summer.

Wilshere will be out to prove Emery and the Arsenal board wrong, and Manuel Pellegrini also knows his side have to get off the mark after two poor opening games.
