As per a report from German outlet SportBild this afternoon, Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are both prepared to meet the release clause of Hoffenheim star Kerem Demirbay.
Demirbay, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder, has enjoyed steady progression at club level over the past few seasons, with impressive loan spells at the likes of Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Dusseldorf eventually earning the technically-gifted star a move to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim last year.
And he has since gone from strength to strength with Die Kraichgauer, even earning himself a call-up to the German senior squad last year, since notching 1 goal in his 2 appearances for Joachim Löw’s side.
Demirbay’s name came to the fore for fans of English football last August, during the Champions League matchup between Liverpool and Hoffenheim.
The midfielder impressed despite his side being put to the sword by an aggregate scoreline of 6 goals to 3, with Jurgen Klopp having reportedly made his interest in Demirbay’s services known in the days following the tie.
And, as per the aforementioned report from SportBild, the Reds are set to renew their interest in the Borussia Dortmund youth product this summer, though they will have to beat off competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Bild claim that both sides are willing to meet Demirbay’s £28 million release clause at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena, meaning any potential deal could well come down to which club the player himself would rather join.
