‘Ousmane Dembele to leave Barcelona’
According to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo on Monday, French international Ousmane Dembele could be about to leave Barcelona.
Ousmane Dembele moved to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Barcelona forked out £96.8 million on the midfielder, who they penned to a 5-year deal.
Yet, MD now believe Dembele is viewed as a bargaining chip that Barcelona are willing to play with.
It’s been a testing first season for Dembele in Spain. He was injured early in the season, while his overall stats read 2 goals, 8 assists in 21 games.
Arsenal vs Liverpool
Two Premier League sides are linked to Dembele.
The first are Arsenal, the second side are Liverpool.
Starting with the Gunners, it’s confirmed that Arsenal have “shown interest” in Dembele. However it’s doubtful whether Arsenal will land the winger as the Gunners would only move to sign the player outright.
And Liverpool? Their interest is apparently contingent on Mo Salah.
The line goes that if Salah does leave Anfield this summer – possibly to Real Madrid – Dembele could be a target for Dembele.
Atletico Madrid & Antoine Griezmann
Yet the big update in Mundo Deportivo centres on Atletico Madrid and Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann has been a long term target for the Catalans, and the French forward could switch to Barcelona this summer.
Indeed, it’s common knowledge that Griezmann has a 100 million euro release clause in his contract.
In order to convince Atletico to do a deal, Mundo Deportivo believe Dembele could be loaned to the Rojiblancos.
MD also note that if Griezmann does join Barca, he’d start ahead of Dembele in the Catalan XI.
