Arsenal & Liverpool bids for Nicolas Pepe
According to French daily L’Equipe (via GFFN) on Thursday, the race to sign Lille and Ivory Coast attacker Nicolas Pepe is heating up.
In the latest report, it’s been confirmed that Arsenal and Liverpool have lodged bids for Pepe.
Along with the Premier League rivals, Inter Milan have also tabled a proposal for the 24-year-old.
Could anyone else sign Nicolas Pepe?
L’Equipe suggest that the race to sign Pepe could be expanded further.
In the event that the forward isn’t keen on Arsenal, Liverpool or Inter, L’Equipe say that Lille plan to approach other possible suitors.
Both Napoli and Atletico Madrid are name-dropped as possible buyers.
Nicolas Pépé was the only player in Europe’s top five divisions to have 100+ shots, win 100+ fouls and complete 100+ take-ons in the league in 2018-19:
• 118 shots
• 108 fouls won
• 102 take-ons

Nicolas Pepe’s price tag
L’Equipe note that Lille are looking for 80 million euros in exchange for Pepe.
That price-tag should set off alarm bells regarding the chances that the forward ends up at either Arsenal or Liverpool.
As has been well-documented all summer, Arsenal’s transfer budget is believed to be around 40 million pounds.
So how can Arsenal meet Lille’s asking price?
As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed this week that the club are unlikely to be involved in any major business this window. The German said:
How I said, it will not be the biggest transfer window of LFC; we invested a lot in the team in the last two years, I would say.
We cannot spend every year in the same manner.
But we are fine. I’m happy with the team, we are really happy.
We have to see if we find maybe one position, if we find something for it, but there’s no real pressure because it’s not about signing a player. We have solutions for all the situations.
