Arsenal-linked Leandro Trossard set for £18 million Brighton move – HLN

As per a report from the reliable Kristof Terreur of HLN, Genk star Leonardo Trossard is set for a surprise move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Genk standout

Trossard, a gifted 24-year-old winger who can also play in a more central role, is highly-regarded in his home country of Belgium.

The former Red Devils’ U21-international, who was included in two of Roberto Martinez’s senior squads last year, came up through the youth ranks of Genk, before breaking into the club’s first-team setup on a consistent basis during the 2016-17 season.

And, after seeing his stock continue to rise over the course of an injury-hit campaign in 2017/18, during which he directly contributed to 12 goals in just 19 appearances, Trossard subsequently took his game to another level altogether this past season.

The pacy wide-man, who generally lines out on the left before cutting in onto his trusty right foot, notched a hugely-impressive 22 goals and 11 assists.

Arsenal interest confirmed

As such, Trossard’s stellar showings at the Cristal Arena have unsurprisingly seen a number of European heavyweights begin to express an interest in the Belgian’s signature.

Of these clubs, Arsenal were previously the most-persistently linked, with Trossard’s agent, Josy Comhair, having confirmed in an interview last month that the Gunners were a potential summer landing spot for his client:

‘With Arsenal you are immediately at the highest level. You can almost only go down. But yes, it [his next destination] can also be Arsenal.’

Some sources, meanwhile, even went as far as to suggest that the north Londoners had already struck a deal with Genk:

Brighton bound

As per the aforementioned report from transfer expert Kristof Terreur of Belgian outlet HLN, though, Arsenal appear to have missed out, with Trossard all set for a surprise move to fellow Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion:

Terreur also provided an insight into some of the stellar talent produced by Genk over recent years:
