Leicester City fans are understandably apprehensive about seeing one of their star players linked with a move away from the club. Arsenal reportedly triggered Jamie Vardy’s buy-out clause and hope to bring him to the Emirates.
However, it doesn’t matter how strongly you want to see a player stay at your club, you have no right to shower that player’s family members with abuse. That’s what Leicester and Arsenal’s fan have been doing to Vardy’s wife.
Rebekah Vardy tweeted about London traffic yesterday in a tweet that could have been construed to be about her husband negotiating with Arsenal. Or perhaps it has nothing at all to do with a move to the Emirates.
Either way fans have been latching on to her Twitter updates and forming their own narrative. She’s responded to some of the nastier tweets by asking fans to calm down and not revert to name-calling when speaking to her.
